I Seoul U
October 24, 2016 11:13 pm Leave your thoughtsI cam across this article ‘I.Seoul.U’ – the Confusing New Slogan for Seoul, South Korea and I not only found the new slogan confusing, but felt quite embarrassed. (My parents are from Korea and naturally, I don’t like Korea being ridiculed.)
I also followed the link to this opinion piece in which the author state in part,
They even don’t make much sense in English. I.SEOUL.YOU sounds like a drunken challenge, while SEOULing is vaguely creepy and Seoulmate suggests that you want to make love to the city.
Just what the heck is “I Seoul U” suppose to mean?
I sue you? I suck you?

And I am sure Koreans will get upset thinking gaijins (foreigners) are ridiculing them.
Here is my suggestion.
If you don’t want to be ridiculed, stop making stupid sounding marketing phrases.
You Koreans are embarrassing me also!! hahaha
